Inspire Highland’s Duncan part of Changing Our World

Inspire Highland young person, Duncan Maver, has joined Children in Scotland’s Advisory panel, Changing Our World. This space was created by the organisation to make sure they listen to children and young people about the issues that impact them and give them a say in decisions that affect their lives. Duncan attended his first meeting in Edinburgh on the 16th of September.

In the morning, the group was visited by Jenni Minto, Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing. The young people discussed their views on vaping with her, including how they are marketed, the environmental impact, how vaping is currently handled in schools and what changes they felt needs to happen in regards to any potential new legislation.

In the afternoon, the group had a debrief and discussed arranging a follow up meeting with Jenni in the future to get an update from her. Then they began thinking about what they might want to campaign about next.
