Voices for Children
This project aims to develop a digital children’s participation model of engagement, involving primary aged children with additional support needs, including those with communication challenges, including the use of art, games and activities.
The project launched in January 2022, and small scale preparation work took place initially to ensure full understanding of the expected purpose, design process and outcomes of the end product of a participation model. After further work to create an information booklet and further reading – including understanding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and embedding children’s rights in practice with a special focus on Article 12 for school staff (linked to the Curriculum for Excellence and benefits of participation for children) – we are now ready to start planning work with three pilot schools. We have also designed introductory play sessions developed for children to support understanding on their right to a voice and being part of developing a participation model.
