Inspire Highland
“We are a unique, friendly group and we can all be open and speak about any issues affecting us. We try to come up with solutions and resolve issues. This is a place that gives us freedom to express ourselves and not be judged. Inspire Highland is a good place to meet new people and share our experiences.”
Inspire Highland is an exciting and dynamic project led, owned and shaped by young people’s needs, ideas and decision-making. The aim of Inspire Highland is to promote the rights, participation and inclusion of young people aged 11 – 25 who are facing challenges in their lives.
Inspire Highland works to a model of participation in which young people actively participate in shared decision-making and are fully involved in the development, design and delivery of the project, such as:
- Setting the agenda and feeding into the wider policies, decisions and initiatives of Inspiring Young Voices
- Developing a school mental health PSE program
- Leading on a community awareness campaign around suicide
- Playing an active role in the recruitment of the Inspiring Young Voices staff team
Inspire Highland is about young people:
- Reclaiming and promoting their agenda, being the leaders and creators of change, not waiting for change to happen.
- Holding those in power to account, not waiting to be invited in.
- Ensuring society changes and meets their needs, building evidence for longer term change.
