Young Ambassadors for Inclusion
This project is in partnership with the Highland Council Education Improvement Group. It is about working with a small number of children or young people with additional support needs in a few schools to build a model of Young Ambassadors for Inclusion in Highland.
This would involve children or young people in discussing and considering a challenge to inclusion in their school and thinking up of a possible solution to that issue. Working with school management, a “small test of change” approach would be enabled so that children or young people could try out that change over a specific period of time, review it, refine it and eventually if it is found effective, see the change adopted by the school.
For example, a pupil with vision impairment could not find their friends in the playground. Hi-vis hoodies in different bright colours were purchased and friends can now be easily identified in the playground.
